HPE Apollo 4000
Density-optimized storage servers for object storage, analytics, and AI, now built around Cohesity and Gen10 Plus GPU acceleration
Overview
HPE Apollo 4000 is HPE's density-optimized server platform for data-intensive workloads: object storage, big-data analytics, software-defined storage, and backup or archive repositories where usable terabytes per rack unit and cost per terabyte drive the buying decision. It is built for infrastructure teams standing up scale-out capacity, not for buyers who want a turnkey, controller-managed array.
The current lineup is Gen10: the Apollo 4200 Gen10 Server and Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus System in a 2U footprint (up to 60 SFF or 28 LFF drives), and the Apollo 4510 Gen10 System in 4U (up to 60 LFF drives, nearly a petabyte in one node). Earlier Apollo 4200 Gen9 and Apollo 4530 Gen9 platforms have reached HPE end-of-service-life and are no longer part of new procurement. The Gen10 Plus adds 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, up to 4 TB of DDR4 memory, and six PCIe Gen4 slots that support select GPU and FPGA accelerators, including the NVIDIA A2 Tensor Core GPU for entry-level AI inference at the edge.
HPE's software partner picture for the family changed materially in 2026: HPE stopped accepting new orders for Qumulo, Scality, and WEKA bundles as of March 2, 2026 (support for existing deployments continues to March 3, 2031), while the Cohesity alliance expanded, with Cohesity Data Cloud now factory-installed on certified Apollo systems. For federal and regulated buyers, TAA-compliant Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus configurations are available, and HPE iLO 5 with Silicon Root of Trust protects the system from firmware to data at rest.

Why HPE Apollo 4000
HPE Apollo 4000 is the density-optimized hardware layer under HPE's data-intensive storage strategy: fewer racks per petabyte for object storage, analytics, and archive, with compute local to the data instead of a separate compute tier. The 2026 shift matters for buyers now: HPE ended new Qumulo/Scality/WEKA bundle orders in March 2026 while deepening its Cohesity alliance, so the right software pairing for a new deployment has changed. Uniqcli configures the current Gen10 Plus and 4510 Gen10 hardware to the software stack and compliance requirements you actually need today, not the 2023-era bundle list.
Ultra-dense capacity per rack unit
The Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus fits up to 60 SFF or 28 LFF hot-plug drives in 2U, and the Apollo 4510 Gen10 holds up to 60 LFF drives in 4U, both built to push cost-per-terabyte down at scale.
Built for the full data-centric workload spectrum
One balanced architecture spans deep data lakes and cold archives on one end to performance-demanding ML, analytics, and hyperconverged workloads on the other.
GPU acceleration for AI at the edge
Six PCIe Gen4 slots on the Gen10 Plus support select GPU and FPGA accelerators, including the NVIDIA A2 Tensor Core GPU, for entry-level inference without a dedicated AI server.
Cohesity Data Cloud factory-installed
HPE's expanded 2026 Cohesity alliance ships Cohesity Data Cloud factory-installed on certified Apollo systems in secured HPE facilities for hardened backup and secondary-data consolidation.
Flexible media across one platform
Mix SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives, HDDs and SSDs, on the same chassis to tune each node for capacity, throughput, or a hybrid tier.
Security rooted in silicon
HPE iLO 5 with Silicon Root of Trust, secure boot, and data-at-rest encryption protect the system from firmware to storage.
Easy to deploy and service
Front-and-rear in-rack serviceability for drives, fans, and redundant hot-plug power supplies keeps maintenance fast at petabyte scale.
What it does
Density-optimized capacity per rack unit
The Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus configures up to 28 LFF drives with 4 NVMe-capable SFF bays, 24 LFF with 12 NVMe SFF, or a full 60 SFF hot-plug layout, all in 2U, so you fit more usable terabytes into the same floor space, power, and cooling budget.
4U option for maximum drives per node
The Apollo 4510 Gen10 System holds up to 60 LFF SAS or SATA drives plus two SFF NVMe/SAS/SATA bays and two internal M.2 NVMe drives for boot or caching, letting a single 4U node approach a petabyte of raw capacity when built with high-capacity drives.
3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable compute next to the data
Gen10 Plus nodes run dual 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors up to 32 cores each with up to 24 DDR4 DIMM slots at 3200 MT/s, keeping analytics and storage-software compute local instead of shuttling data across the network.
GPU and FPGA acceleration for AI at the edge
Six FHHL PCIe Gen4 slots support select GPU and FPGA accelerators, including the NVIDIA A2 Tensor Core GPU, a 40-60W configurable TDP card built for entry-level inference acceleration without adding a separate AI server to the rack.
Factory-installed Cohesity Data Cloud
HPE and Cohesity's expanded 2026 alliance ships Cohesity Data Cloud factory-installed on certified Apollo systems inside secured HPE facilities, giving you a hardened supply chain for backup, archive, and secondary-data consolidation without a separate software bring-up step.
Multiple drive protocols on one platform
Mix SAS, SATA, and NVMe, HDDs and SSDs, on the same chassis so you can tune each node for capacity-per-dollar, IOPS, or a hybrid tier without switching product families.
iLO 5 with Silicon Root of Trust
Every Gen10 and Gen10 Plus node ships with HPE iLO 5 out-of-band management, silicon root of trust, and secure boot, protecting firmware integrity from the factory through the field, which matters for FIPS-adjacent and supply-chain-sensitive deployments.
Tool-free, in-rack serviceability
Front-and-rear serviceable drive bays plus redundant, hot-plug 800W or 1600W power supplies (up to 96% efficiency) let data center staff swap components without pulling the node, cutting mean time to repair at scale.

How to buy HPE Apollo 4000
Apollo 4000 systems are sold as configure-to-order hardware SKUs (not licensed software), which keeps procurement straightforward across commercial and public-sector channels. Uniqcli quotes bare-metal chassis, drive-populated configurations, and support attach in one order so your rack lands ready to image.
Bare-metal chassis (build-your-own)
Order an unpopulated Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus or Apollo 4510 Gen10 chassis and we configure processors, drives, memory, and NICs to your exact capacity and throughput target. Best when you are running your own Ceph, Cohesity, or Hadoop stack and want full control of the bill of materials.
TAA-compliant configurations
TAA-compliant Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus builds are available for Trade Agreements Act procurement, including pre-validated node configurations for federal file and object storage requirements. Flag TAA at quote time and we will hold the configuration to that requirement line by line.
GPC, SAP, FAR-based orders, and GSA eBuy contract vehicles
As an authorized HPE partner, Uniqcli can align Apollo 4000 line items to your GSA schedule, SAP/FAR channels, or GPC direct contract vehicle, plus government purchase card (GPC) orders for smaller acquisitions. Tell us the vehicle and we handle CLIN mapping and lead times.
HPE support and installation services attach
Bundle HPE Pointnext installation and support service levels (including on-site response) with the hardware order so the node ships, racks, and gets a support contract in a single PO instead of a follow-up purchase.
Refresh and trade-in for aging Gen9 estates
Apollo 4200 Gen9 and Apollo 4530 Gen9 nodes have reached HPE end-of-service-life. If you are running legacy Gen9 capacity, ask about our refresh path to Gen10 Plus, including migration sequencing so object storage or Hadoop clusters stay online during cutover.
Where it fits
Frequently asked
Can I still buy HPE Apollo 4000 systems bundled with Qumulo or Scality software?
No. HPE stopped accepting new orders for Qumulo, Scality, and WEKA software and services SKUs, including the purpose-built Apollo systems bundled to run them, as of March 2, 2026. HPE continues supporting existing Qumulo/Scality/WEKA deployments on Apollo hardware through March 3, 2031. New scale-out file or object deployments now typically pair bare-metal Apollo nodes with Cohesity, Ceph, or another software stack of your choice. Tell us your target software and we will validate the node configuration against it.
Is the Apollo 4000 family still current, or has it moved to a new generation?
The current, actively sold lineup is the Apollo 4200 Gen10 Server, Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus System, and Apollo 4510 Gen10 System. Earlier Apollo 4200 Gen9 and Apollo 4530 Gen9 platforms have reached HPE end-of-service-life and are not part of new procurement; we quote the Gen10 line for all new orders and can scope a refresh path if you are running Gen9 today.
How do we procure Apollo 4000 systems through government contracts?
As an authorized HPE partner, Uniqcli quotes Apollo 4200 and 4510 configurations through GSA schedules, SAP/FAR channels, GPC direct, and government purchase card (GPC) channels. Share your contract vehicle and compliance requirements (including TAA) with your quote request and we will align line items, CLINs, and lead times.
Does the Apollo 4000 support TAA-compliant configurations?
Yes. TAA-compliant Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus configurations are available, including pre-validated node builds for file and object storage use cases. Specify TAA and country-of-origin requirements when you request a quote and we will hold the bill of materials to that standard.
Can the Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus run AI inference workloads, or do I need a separate GPU server?
The Apollo 4200 Gen10 Plus supports select GPU and FPGA accelerators, including the NVIDIA A2 Tensor Core GPU, across six FHHL PCIe Gen4 slots. That is enough for entry-level, edge-style inference alongside your storage workload, but heavier training or large-model inference is better served by a dedicated GPU platform; ask us to compare options if your AI workload is growing.
How should we size an Apollo 4000 deployment?
Sizing depends on your usable-capacity target, the storage or analytics software you are running (Cohesity, Ceph, Cloudera, or your own stack), throughput needs, and replication or erasure-coding scheme. Share your raw-versus-usable goals and growth horizon and we will recommend a node count, drive mix (2U Gen10 Plus versus 4U 4510), and rack layout.
What support and warranty options come with Apollo 4000 hardware?
Apollo 4200 and 4510 Gen10 systems are backed by HPE warranty and HPE support services, including on-site response tiers and extended coverage options. We scope the support level to your SLA and can bundle installation services into the same purchase order.
Where do we get a quote for Apollo 4000 hardware?
Request a quote directly through Uniqcli's /quote page. Tell us your target capacity, drive protocol mix, GPU requirements if any, and contract vehicle, and we will return a configured Apollo 4200 or 4510 build with current lead times.
Works with
Apollo 4000 nodes are a hardware foundation, not a turnkey appliance, so the platform they pair with matters as much as the chassis. HPE's current partner lineup for the family has shifted in 2026: Cohesity is the active, expanding software alliance, while Qumulo and Scality bundles are now legacy-support-only for existing deployments.
